Today, I’m thrilled to share the story of Joe & Becky’s incredible wedding day—a wonderful blend of laughter and love, set in the world-famous beauty of North Yorkshire’s villages. Living in North Yorkshire myself, I love photographing weddings here as I’m a firm believer that we have some of the most beautiful landscape in the whole country! Join me now as we relive Joe & Becky’s stunning celebration through their wedding photographs.

The Day

What an absolute pleasure it was to be invited to capture the very special, very Yorkshire Wedding of Joe & Becky last month. They’re a local couple so it was a real pleasure to be able to photograph their engagement and wedding in familiar locations like Sutton Bank and the village of Sessay.

The Morning

We began with a relaxed morning at at a beautiful stone-brick cottage for the bridal preparations. Becky and her bridesmaids spent the night before the wedding here and were up bright and early starting their hair and makeup when I arrived.

I called in to meet the groomsmen at the reception venue as they got ready and into their suits. There was then just time to head back for a touching reveal between the Bride and her dad as she showed off her incredible gown, before heading over the church.

The Ceremony

As a Yorkshire Wedding Photographer one of my favourite things is discovering Yorkshire churches that are new to me. Today’s wedding was held at St Cuthbert’s, Sessay, which is such a beautiful 19th century Church both inside and out.

The bride arrived in style in a stunning green Porsche. Joe & Becky were accompanied for their ceremony by beautiful bridesmaids, suited groomsmen and the smartest page boy and flower girl!

The ceremony itself was full of emotion with lovely vows and special readings. There were lots of opportunities to capture some stunning images of the new Mr and Mrs Langley. Then there was the confetti walk-out and a selection of family formals with the backdrop of the church.

The Reception

Onwards to the reception! Saxophonist Ali Adair was on-hand all afternoon and into the evening. He provided excellent entertainment as guests enjoyed canapés, lawn games and cocktails.

As guests began to move towards their seats we took the opportunity to steal away for the couples portraits. Joe & Becky’s reception was on family land with some beautiful scenery and even an orchard! We were able to capture a gorgeous selection of images, just in time for them to head into the marquee for their first entrance as husband and wife.

There was a selection of moving speeches before the wedding breakfast. Always an emotional and heart warming part of the day to photograph, today was no exception. By the time they were over there were tears (of laughter!) and plenty of standing ovations.

This was followed by the wedding breakfast. A delicious feast from Johnson’s Butchers, grilled on-site. Try concentrating with that BBQ fragrance wafting in your nose!

The dance floor soon became the focal point of the evening. After Joe & Becky shared their first dance as husband and wife, the band got the party started!

From retro sunglasses to the cha-cha slide, the dance floor was full of fun all night, a true reflection of the Bride & Groom. There were even ties around heads, shirts round waists and arm wrestling competitions!

I stayed well into the night, packing up once the band had begun their second set. By this point, the only light came from the glow of the firepits surrounding the marquee.

As a wedding photographer, I am always so privileged to capture such an exceptional day and to work with so many incredible suppliers. I’ve tagged some of them below.
