Beth & Stephen’s Chilli Barn Wedding

Today, I’m thrilled to share the story of Beth & Stephen’s incredible wedding day—a wonderful blend of laughter, love, and pure fun set against the picturesque backdrop of Chilli Barn in rural Otley, West Yorkshire. Set on the edge of the Otley Chevin, just a two minute drive from the famous “Surprise View”, this was my first visit to Chilli Barn. What a fantastic venue! Join me as we relive their stunning celebration, while uncovering the magic of Chilli Barn Wedding Photography.

The Day

What an absolute pleasure it was to be invited to capture the very special, very Yorkshire Wedding of Beth and Stephen earlier this month. We first met at the UK Wedding Event’s Yorkshire wedding fair at Headingley Stadium last year. I knew from the very first moment that their wedding would be spectacular and I wasn’t wrong!

We began with a relaxed morning at Otley Chevin Hotel & Spa. Both Beth and Stephen spent the night before their wedding here with their respective wedding parties. The forecasted thunderstorms made for a dramatic start to the day and their rustic log cabin made for beautiful photographs as the girls had their hair and make-up done.

Having been over to meet the groomsmen as they got ready into their suits, there was just time for a touching moment of reveal between the Bride and her dad before heading over the wedding venue, Chilli Barn. As a Yorkshire Wedding Photographer one of my favourite things is discovering Yorkshire venues that are new to me. Today’s wedding was held at The Chilli Barn in Otley which is such a beautiful location both inside and out. The dramatic landscape that it sits against made for some incredible outdoor shots while the soft lighting and beautiful dressing in the interior make a stunning contrast which really highlighted the beautiful, bright colour scheme.

Incredibly, the clouds parted from the morning’s storm and by the time I’d parked up, the sun was out! The bride arrived in style in a stunning vintage VW Campervan from Liberty Campers. Beth & Stephen were accompanied by beautiful bridesmaids and the smartest page boys ever! The ceremony itself was full of colour with their incredible, vibrant flower arrangements. This
gave us lots of opportunities to capture some stunning images of the new Mr and Mrs Little. Then there was the confetti walk-out which could only be described as an explosion of colour!

We kept one eye on the weather as it rolled back and forth from thunderstorms to stunning blue skies. We found some time to quietly sneak away and take some bridal portraits at the Otley Chevin Surprise View- easily one of the most beautiful spots in Yorkshire to photograph. I was absolutely delighted with how these images turned out, their love shines through every image and the joy between them is almost palpable. I also think I’m going to start getting a reputation for photographing my couples in “daring landscapes”.

There was then a selection of wonderful speeches. Always an emotional and heart warming part of the day to photograph, today was no exception. By the time they were over there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

This was followed by the wedding breakfast – a delicious Taco sharing selection from Tacoporium.

The dance floor soon became the focal point of the evening. After Beth & Stephen shared their first dance as husband and wife, the DJ got the party started! From retro sunglasses to the ole’ faithful Macarena, the dance floor was full of fun all night, a true reflection of the Bride & Groom.
