Rachel & Tim’s Thief Hall North Yorkshire Wedding
Rachel & Tim recently got married at the stunning Thief Hall and what an incredible day it was. Thief Hall is the picture perfect spot for a beautiful North Yorkshire wedding. Thief Hall is a unique barn wedding venue in the hills outside Northallerton, North Yorkshire. The exclusive use barn venue is the perfect blank canvas for your wedding day, supported with the ability to accommodate up to 45 guests across their range of cottages and luxury glamping pods.

The Day
It was a pleasure to be invited to photograph this North Yorkshire Wedding, the first of our 2025 season!
We began the relaxed morning with candid wedding photography in Thief Hall’s bespoke dressing room. Wedding mornings can often be quite busy and hectic so it was lovely to enjoy such a peaceful start to the day. The hair and make-up teams did a stunning job with the bride and her bridal party
Thief Hall is more than able to accommodate both parties’ preparations seamlessly thanks to all the space the cottages have to offer. While the bride squad are in the dressing room with a huge vaulted glass roof streaming gorgeous light in, the groom is at the far side of the accommodation in one of the cottages, putting the final touches to his suit. This means I am able to move between both parties really easily and capture moments they’re able to treasure forever, from parts of the day the other person wouldn’t ever otherwise get to see.
Spring had certainly arrived in style, the sun was shining bright in the sky from sunrise to sunset (and oh what a sunset it was). The North Yorkshire countryside views went for miles for from Thief Hall’s perfect vantage point!
The Ceremony
A tear-filled emotional ceremony with readings from family members and a special blessing was the perfect way to seal their marriage contract, before we headed outside not just for a confetti walk, but a surprise guard of honour from the bride Rachel’s guide troop!
We spilled out onto the sun-kissed lawn for group and family formal photographs then, while guests enjoyed cocktails and canapés, we stole away to the woods for some bridal portraits with the happy couple.

The Reception
Guests were treated to a round of speeches filled with love and laughter, before the wedding breakfast began.. with some audience participation! Tables had a nominated leader who donned a chef’s apron and went to retrieve their table’s main-course centrepiece (luckily all made it back to tables safely).
Golden hour made an incredible appearance at sunset, bathing the hillsides in liquid gold, perfect for some extra special portraits of the bride and groom.
The surprises weren’t finished though, as in shock to new-groom Tim, his new bride snuck away and had a haircut ready for the first dance!
We then kicked off the evening’s festivities by Rachel & Tim taking to the floor for their first dance, with the DJ having everyone dancing from then on.
Everyone partied long into the night. With the festivities in full swing I didn’t pack away my cameras until nearly 11pm!

As a wedding photographer, I am always so privileged to capture such an exceptional day. As always, weddings are a team event with so many incredible suppliers coming together. I’ve tagged some of them involved below:
