This weekend I met up with my clients Jamie and Katie for their engagement photoshoot. We decided to have the session up at Sutton Bank, near Thirsk. It was local legend James Herriot who gave the scenery its famous accolade – Englands Finest View. This warm Sunday evening certainly lived up to that statement. A stunningly clear, sunny vista across North Yorkshire’s rolling fields.
They’re getting married next year at Sedgewell Barn in Northallerton, a 19th century venue complete with luxury clamping pods for guests to stay in. Views of the Yorkshire dales in all directions and exclusive use of the venue mean it’s both a peaceful and perfect way to celebrate your special day.
Engagement/pre-wedding photoshoots like these are the perfect way to get to know your photographer. It’s a chance to break the ice, talk about your wedding day. Not to mention coming away with a gorgeous set of images you can treasure. They also can be great for save-the-day notices or invitations! Every wedding booking with us includes one of these as standard.
James and Katie told me they were nervous coming into the photoshoot, having not done a session like this before. Very quickly, both were relaxed and thoroughly loved up which resulted in some truly beautiful images in a beautiful location on Sutton Bank.
The format of my engagement photoshoots is really informal and relaxed. It’s an introduction to being in front of the camera ahead of your wedding day. Most people rarely spend time with professional cameras focussed on them which can be unnerving without any preparation. The idea is to help you move past any awkward feelings and to know how incredible you’ll look on your wedding photos!
